Great food and service at the Rathskeller

Posted by randy71652 on 1/13/2008

Very nice restaurant with a great menu. We went with friends and just plain enjoyed our dinners! The service was friendly and competent, the menu had a wide variety of seafood, pasta, and meat. We all had a difficult time deciding what to order. Some of us had salads-They were great! Try the gorgonzolo pear salad and the harvest salad-really tasty! The main entrees were nicely prepared and serving size was generous! We all had something different and all the entrees were great. If you go to the Rathskeller you have got to try the Pumpkin Ravioli and the Scallops and the chicken and polenta. The chile and the French Onion soup are killers! Prices are very reasonable for the great food you get! Loved It!!

Gathering Place in Southbury

A great place to go to in Southbury with friends and family is the Rathskeller on Main Street South. The restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere, the food is great and the staff is very attentive. You can get anything from a sandwich to an excellent full meal. We especially like the wine list. You can tell that the owners know good wine. And even better is that it is locally owned and operated.

Rathskeller in Southbury

What a terrific find! The Rathskeller is hidden behind an office building on 88 Main Street South and is well worth trying out. First impression is that this is a local restaurant frequented by local people who know about fine food at fair prices. The food choices are far better than I had expected, the service is very friendly & attentive, and the place is really clean. We liked the salmon with horseradish, the pastas, and the large salads (almost a full meal themselves). The menu is varied and we will absolutely go back to try the other entree items. Overall, one of the most pleasant finds for a local restaurant.

Exceptionally well prepared food, widely based (American) menue. Great salads and entrees.

I have eaten at this lovely atmosphere which lends itself to an enjoyable time. the food is excellent and the menue is varied. The service is first class and there is a policy of customer's first. I tried the penny pasta and the New York strip which were excellent. prices are reasonable too. John J

We simply love going to this place. The menu offers a very nice variety, the food is very good to excellent and if you're looking for a place for a quick appetizer and drink no place in town is better!
